1. High speed steel
High speed steel refers to high platform metalworking tool steel containing more tungsten, chromium, aluminum and other alloy elements, commonly known as steel edge or white steel.
2. Cemented carbide
High wear resistance and oxidation resistance; But the bending strength and impact toughness are low. It is suitable for processing carbon steel, Taiwan steel and other plastic materials.
3. Machine tool coating tool material
Cemented carbide or high-speed steel tools are coated with refractory metal compounds with good wear resistance on their surfaces by chemical or physical methods. Its characteristics are: it can not only improve the wear resistance of tool material, but also reduce its toughness.
4. Superhard tool material
(1) The main characteristics of ceramic materials are: the hardness is 80hra, good wear resistance and high heat resistance; High brittleness, low strength, unable to bear impact load. Suitable for fine turning and semi fine turning, it is considered to be one of the most promising tool materials to improve product quality and productivity.
(2) Diamond diamond is divided into natural diamond and artificial diamond. Natural diamond is scarce, so it is expensive and rarely used. Synthetic diamond is converted from graphite under high pressure and high temperature. Its price is relatively low and it is widely used. Its characteristics are: the hardness is extremely high, up to 10000hv, the wear resistance is very good, and the friction coefficient is the smallest of all tool materials; But it has poor heat resistance, low bending strength and high brittleness.
(3) Cubic boron nitride cubic boron nitride is transformed from soft cubic boron nitride by adding catalyst under high pressure and high temperature. Its characteristics are: hardness is 8000 ~ 9000hv second only to diamond, good wear resistance, high heat resistance and low friction coefficient. Cubic boron nitride generally processes steel and cast iron under dry cutting conditions.
