Abstract

The manufacturing evaluation of a 5052 aluminum mounting component was conducted to optimize lightweight structural support parts used in industrial equipment. The study applied CAD modeling, laser cutting parameter analysis, dimensional inspection, and surface quality evaluation methods. The results showed that controlled cutting speed, heat input management, and proper material selection significantly improved edge quality and assembly accuracy. The process provided a practical solution for producing corrosion-resistant aluminum brackets with stable performance in small-batch and customized applications.

1 Research Method

1.1 Design and Process Development

The component design was developed based on functional requirements including weight reduction, mounting stability, and long-term durability. A 5052 aluminum alloy sheet was selected due to its good corrosion resistance, moderate strength, and machining adaptability. The engineering process included 3D drawing review, flat pattern development, laser cutting simulation, deburring, and dimensional verification.

Production data was collected from CAD files, process parameters, and inspection records. Measuring tools including digital calipers, height gauges, and surface inspection equipment were applied to verify critical dimensions.

1.2 Results and Analysis

The evaluation showed that optimized laser parameters reduced deformation risks and improved consistency between batches. Compared with conventional steel brackets, the aluminum structure achieved lower weight while maintaining sufficient mechanical support. The combination of digital design and controlled fabrication shortened preparation time for customized projects.

2 Discussion

The performance improvement was mainly related to accurate process planning and suitable material selection. However, thickness variation and complex bending requirements may influence final accuracy. Further optimization can focus on automated inspection and advanced simulation methods.

The manufacturing approach demonstrates that customized 5052 aluminum laser-cut components can provide reliable solutions for industrial equipment, automation systems, and lightweight mechanical assemblies. Future development may combine intelligent production monitoring with flexible manufacturing processes.
