When the measuring rod moves 1mm, the long pointer makes one revolution. Since a total of 100 divisions are engraved on the dial, one division of the long pointer means that the measuring rod moves 0.01 mm. In order to improve the visual accuracy, a dial indicator can also be used, that is, one division of the long pointer means that the measuring rod moves 0.001 mm. , but generally used in occasions requiring very high measurement accuracy.
