Sheet Metal Processing Technology Process

The following mainly introduces the 24 common processes in sheet metal processing.

Blanking: laser cutting machine or punch machine processes materials according to programming documents. Among them, laser cutting machine can meet the cutting of various shapes of parts, and punch has advantages in batch processing.

Bending: according to the size indicated in the bending icon, the workpiece is bent and formed by the bending machine. Bending die is divided into upper die and lower die. Different shapes require different molds. The accuracy of the bending dimension is determined by the quality of the die.

Molding: the workpiece is directly made into the required shape by using a mold on an ordinary punch or other equipment. Most of them are stamping forming, which are widely used in the field of automotive sheet metal and electronic products.

Tapping: according to the bottom hole of the workpiece, the corresponding internal thread is processed on the workpiece. Tapping requires the thickness of the plate. If it is too thin, it is easy to slip.

Counterbore: machining taper hole on workpiece. In order to have a good appearance without exposed screw heads, most workpieces are installed with countersunk holes.


Press riveting: fasteners such as press riveted nuts, screws or nut posts shall be firmly crimped on the workpiece through a punch or hydraulic press. Pre open the bottom hole on the workpiece for press riveting, and press the fastener on the workpiece during bending, which can reduce the welding workload and protect the appearance of special workpiece.


Punch convex hull: punch or hydraulic press uses a mold to make the workpiece convex, such as punching a shutter. Different shapes require different molds. On the whole, it has beautiful appearance and powerful functions.

Printing: use the mold to punch words, symbols or other shapes on the workpiece, mainly including the company name, company logo, company website and company contact number. Its advantage is that it can be permanently retained with the workpiece.


Punching net: punching mesh holes from the workpiece with the die on the ordinary punch or CNC punch. The mesh plate on the workpiece can play a beautiful decorative role and meet the heat dissipation function.


Deburring: the rough edges on the surface of the workpiece can be removed with grinding machines, files and other tools to make the workpiece processing place smooth and flat and prevent cutting scratches.


Argon arc welding: the connection between workpiece and workpiece adopts argon arc welding machine to weld at the edge or joint of workpiece, which is divided into intermittent welding and full welding. It needs to be clearly marked on the drawing. Argon arc welding has stable arc combustion, high production efficiency, small welding deformation and convenient operation and observation.


Planting welding: the planting welding screw is firmly welded on the workpiece with a planting welding gun. Planting welding is often used on workpieces with small stress and requirements on the outer surface of workpieces to ensure the beauty of workpieces.


Welding and grinding: use grinding machine, file and other tools to make the weld mark of the workpiece smooth and flat, which can obtain a better formed surface and increase the adhesion for subsequent plastic powder spraying.

Pretreatment: after the workpiece is processed and before painting or powder spraying, the workpiece should be degreased and derusted with electrolyte, and the coating (such as phosphating film) should be added and cleaned on the surface of the workpiece to increase the adhesion of subsequent powder spraying plastic.


Dust removal and grinding: use atomic ash to make up for defects on the surface of the workpiece, such as welding gaps or pits, and polish the surface of the workpiece after scraping with a plane grinder or abrasive cloth, so as to increase the parallelism and aesthetic appearance of the whole workpiece and further increase the adhesion of plastic powder.


Wire drawing: it uses wire drawing machine and abrasive belt to texture the surface of the workpiece to increase aesthetics and market demand. Mainly stainless steel surface treatment.


Polishing: use polishing equipment to polish the workpiece surface to increase aesthetics and surface finish, mainly stainless steel surface treatment.


Heat treatment: in order to improve the hardness of the workpiece, the ultimate purpose of heat treatment is to improve the hardness, wear resistance, strength and other mechanical properties of the workpiece.


Oil spray: spray paint evenly on the surface of the workpiece with a spray gun, which is convenient, fast and easy to use.


Plastic spraying: spray the powder evenly on the surface of the workpiece with a spray gun, and put it into the oven for baking. Plastic sprayed workpiece has better wear resistance and corrosion resistance.


Blackening treatment: chemical surface treatment is a common means to produce an oxide film on the metal surface to isolate the air and achieve the purpose of rust prevention.


Screen printing: special ink forms words or patterns on the surface of the workpiece through a special grid. Screen printing has a wide range of applications, durable colors, and fast and convenient operation.


Laser marking: surface treatment based on optical principle; The laser beam can engrave permanent marks on the surface of the workpiece in a variety of shapes.
