In nature, most metals exist in a combined state, and a few metals such as gold, silver, platinum, and bismuth exist in a free state. Most of the metallic minerals are oxides and sulfides, and other forms are chlorides, sulfates, carbonates and silicates.
Substances belonging to metals include gold, silver, copper, iron, manganese, zinc, etc. At atmospheric pressure and a normal temperature of 25 degrees Celsius, all metals except mercury (liquid) are solid. Most pure metals are silver-white (grey), with only a few not, such as gold is yellow-red, copper is purple-red. Metals are mostly with "spot" next to them.
Substances with a positive temperature resistivity are generally defined as metals. Metal elements are located at the lower left of the "boron-astatine boundary line". There are metal elements in five regions including the s-region, p-region, d-region, and f-region, and all transition elements are metal elements.
In a solid metallic conductor, there are many mobile free electrons. Although these electrons are not bound to any particular atom, they are bound within the crystal lattice of the metal; even in the absence of an external electric field, these electrons still move randomly because of thermal energy. However, within a conductor, the average net current is zero. Pick any cross-section inside the wire, and in any time interval, the number of electrons moving from one side of the cross-section to the other is equal to the number of electrons moving across the cross-section in the opposite direction.
