In the process of 3-axis CNC machining, the operator sometimes has to break the machining process by turning the tool parts to enter the hidden area of machining. Therefore, they must stop the process and perform mathematical calculations for each step of the process. In some cases, jigs need to be made to fix the part at a specific angle.

3. Higher accuracy
Every time a part must come out of the machine and rotate at a certain angle for processing, it is necessary to reset the starting position. Resetting the zero (origin) position will reduce the positioning accuracy of part features in 3D space.

By using 5-axis CNC machining, the tool can reach the invisible area of 3-axis machining more easily, and the tool length is shorter. By using a shorter tool, the vibration of the tool will be reduced and the surface finish will be better.

In many cases, 3-axis milling may be more cost-effective than 5-axis machining. However, when CNC operators need to load and unload parts many times, especially in mass production or mass production, labor cost becomes a key factor.
