What are the common faults in CNC machining

Jul 18, 2022

The failure modes of CNC processing manufacturers include the alarm indicator lights and fuse blown on the CNC medium-speed unit, as well as various maintenance trip switches and other alarms. The meaning of the warning indicator varies with the design of the speed control unit. Generally, there are the following types:

1. The large current causes the machine tool to alarm. There are two possibilities for the occurrence of high current alarm. Generally, there are two possibilities, that is, the power drive element on the CNC speed control unit of the machining center is damaged and the high current alarm is caused by short circuit.

2. High voltage can also cause machine tool alarms. There are generally three possibilities for high voltage alarms. Perhaps the CNC input voltage of the machining center exceeds 10% of the rated value, or the insulation function in the servo motor is reduced, or High voltage caused by the wiring of the operating speed control unit of the machining center.

3. The machine tool alarm is caused by the low voltage, and the probability of such occurrence in the machining center is very rare. This situation may be caused by the input voltage being lower than 85% of the rated value, or the power connection is poor.

4. The response line of the detection speed is broken, which leads to an alarm. This situation is a false alarm. Since the airport has no problem, and there is a problem with the detection and response system, most of these alarms are caused by the speed response line of the CNC servo motor of the machining center. broken or caused by poor contact of its detection response circuit.

5. The maintenance switch activates the alarm. The maintenance switch is a device for maintaining the machine tool. For example, high voltage will burn some components and other emergency measures that the machine tool cannot control. When these conditions are encountered, the maintenance switch will be activated to avoid unnecessary Component damage, something like a safe abort.

6. Overload alarm, the cause of overload alarm is that the CNC mechanical load of the machining center is abnormal, or the upper limit value of the motor current on the speed control unit is set too low. The falling off of the permanent magnet on the permanent magnet motor will also cause an overload alarm. If the motor of the CNC machining center without a brake cannot be turned by hand when it is no-load, or it is very difficult to rotate the shaft, it means that the permanent magnet has completely fallen off.

7. The fuse on the CNC speed control unit of the machining center is blown or the circuit breaker is tripped.
