What are the characteristics of laser welding

Aug 01, 2022

Laser welding is to use the laser to be absorbed by the workpiece and generate heat to melt the workpiece, and after cooling, the two workpieces are bonded together at the melting seam.

Laser welding features:

1. Fast speed and small deformation.

2. Can be welded at room temperature or under special conditions. The laser beam will not shift through the electromagnetic field; the laser can be welded in vacuum, air and certain gas environments, and can be welded through glass or materials that are transparent to the beam.

3. It can weld refractory materials such as titanium, quartz, etc., and can weld different materials with good effect.

4. After the laser is focused, the power density is high. During high-power welding, the body-width ratio can reach 5:1 and the height can reach 10:1.

5. Through the optical fiber coupling, the parts that are difficult to access can be welded, and the non-contact long-distance welding can be carried out, which has great flexibility.

6. The laser beam is easy to realize beam splitting according to time and space, and it can perform multi-beam simultaneous processing and multi-station processing, which provides conditions for more precise welding.
