Programming Of CNC Sheet Metal Bending Machine

Jul 26, 2022

Next, this paper will introduce the programming of CNC sheet metal bending machine.

1. Common bending methods

Common bending methods include angle forming processing, single flanging processing, reverse flanging processing, square groove bending processing, arc bending processing, flanging joint processing, etc.

2. Bending die structure

In the bending process, the standard die structure is usually used. In the die system, the upper die that bends the material is connected with the slider through the clamping block, and the slider drives up and down to realize the bending movement of the upper die. The lower mold is fixed on the lower mold base through the lower mold support plate, and the lower mold base is installed on the bed workbench. The horizontal position of the lower die can be adjusted by adjusting the clamping block of the die to ensure that the lower die is parallel to the upper die.

The die material is tool steel, and the surface is usually subject to high-frequency quenching to improve its service life. The standard die structure is usually used in bending processing, and the structure of the die system is shown.

3. Gap bending

In the bending process, the upper mold and the lower mold are not compressed. The required bending angle is obtained by adjusting the depth of the upper mold entering the opening of the lower mold. This bending method is called gap bending. The deeper the upper die enters the lower die, the smaller the bending angle is; On the contrary, the larger. Due to the elasticity of the material, excessive bending should be considered to control the springback during bending.

4. Bottom bending

When the bottom pressing bending is adopted, the metal plate is pressed between the upper and lower dies, so as to obtain the required bending angle and elbow radius.

The bottom bending is generally applicable to the processing of plates with a thickness of less than 2mm in medium and large batch production. The bending radius is small, the bending accuracy is high, and the accuracy retention is good. It should be noted that the working pressure of bottom bending is greater than that of gap bending, which is generally more than three times.

The angle of the bending die should be compatible with the forming angle of the sheet and the material. Generally, when bending low carbon steel at the bottom, the angle of the upper and lower molds should be consistent with the angle required by the plate.
